British car journal Auto Express as “Best Sports Car” in their New Car Awards 2009. In both cases Porsche’s mid-engined coupe won over experts with its driving dynamics, precision, feedback and response.

Featuring PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung), Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox, the Cayman S impressed Motor Trend on both regular roads and the race track, making its way to the top against nine other thoroughbred sports cars. The test team included select members of the Motor Trend staff as well as two professional race drivers - Randy Pobst and Massimiliano “Max” Angelelli.

With its circulation of 1.1 million copies and 7.6 million readers, Motor Trend, an internationally renowned magazine, is acknowledged as one of the leading car magazines in the USA.

Auto Express, the British car journal, was equally clear in emphasizing that the Cayman leads the sports car scene with unrelenting efficiency. The title of “Best Sports Car” was won with the ultimate blend of traction, balance, and agility. Apart from the characteristic sound of the boxer engines, the testers also lauded the practical qualities of the Cayman with its two luggage compartments and large tailgate.

Auto Express is the best-selling car journal in Great Britain.

Along with the Porsche Boxster, the newest generation of the Cayman has been available since February of this year. Its newly-developed six-cylinder boxer engine provides exceptional fuel economy and performance - 320 horsepower delivered by the 3.4-liter power unit in the Cayman S and 265 hp from the 2.9-liter engine in the Cayman. Both models are EPA rated at 29 mpg highway and both fulfill the strict EU5 emission standard in Europe and the ULEV standard in the USA.

Distinguishing itself from the other competitors in the “Best Driver’s Car” competition, the Cayman S also remains below the fuel consumption limit for Gas Guzzler Tax.

In central Ohio, the Bob-Boyd family of dealerships plans to open a Fiat store in April on the Far East Side next to the company’s Lincoln store. In Dublin, the owner of Crown Chrysler Jeep Dodge plans to open a store as soon as summer.

Most dealers selected have a relationship with Chrysler. Additional dealers will follow in the next two years, as the Fiat lineup increases to include a convertible and other models. Chrysler has said dealers that sell the Fiat must create a separate showroom for the brand, but because some dealers received approval only in mid-November, the company is allowing for breathing room before that requirement kicks in.

“We’re very excited about the car, and we’re very excited about the brand itself,” said Bill Dawes, co-owner of the Bob-Boyd dealerships.

John Mantione, who heads the Fields Automotive Group of dealerships in Orlando, Fla., said the central selling point for the Fiat “will be price. There’s a lot there for the money.”

Indeed, the base Fiat 500, called the Pop, starts at $15,500, not including the yet-to-be-disclosed shipping fee. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo with CD and MP3 players and six speakers, power windows, locks and heated mirrors, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel and seven airbags. Additional safety features include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control and traction control.

Power for all 500 models will be a 1.4-liter, 101-horsepower four-cylinder engine. It has a five-speed manual transmission; a six-speed automatic will be optional. The EPA has not yet rated the 500’s fuel mileage, but it is expected to average about 40 mph. Although you can use regular 87-octane gas, Fiat suggests 91 octane.

Fiat stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Italian for the Italian Automobile Factory of Turin). But it also stands for something else in the U.S. now: The savior of Chrysler, which was bankrupt when the European automaker stepped in and assumed control.

Fiat made no secret at the time that one reason it was interested in Chrysler was that it was a way back into the U.S. market, both for Fiat products and those of a subsidiary, Alfa Romeo. Both brands once were sold in the U.S., and both retreated. This time, they might be back for good.

Ariel Galivan, Detroit-based spokesman for the brand, said that every dealer should have a 500 on display this month, or early February at the latest. “The car will be built in Toluca, Mexico,” he said, “so it’s likely dealers that are closer, such as the one in San Diego, will have cars before the dealers up here in Detroit.” The factory in Mexico used to build Chrysler PT Cruisers

alphabet reserves the letter R for very special sports cars: R for responsive and refined – but most especially for racy. The new Cayman R combines all these attributes without compromise. 55 kilograms (121 lb) lighter and with ten horsepower more than the Cayman S, the new mid-engine coupé from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is designed for spectacular road behaviour. With its specially adapted sports chassis, it provides an even more precise driving experience than the Cayman S. The Cayman R made its world debut last week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new mid-engine coupé is powered by a tuned-up 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine developing 330 hp (243 kW). In the standard configuration it transmits its power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox that propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds. Or there is the option of the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) that reduces its acceleration time to 4.9 seconds. For even more impressive sprinting performance, the Cayman R can be supplied with one of the optional Sport Chrono packages, taking it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds. The new mid-engine coupé is capable of a top speed of 282 km/h (175 mph) with manual gearbox, or 280 km/h (174 mph) with PDK. Its NEDC fuel consumption is 9.7 l/100 km (29.12 mpg imp.) with six-speed gearbox and 9.3 l/100 km (30.37 mpg imp.) with PDK. The main aim during the design of the Cayman R was to improve the two-seater even further in its performance, driving dynamics and agility through consistent weight reduction. With a DIN unladen weight of just 1,295 kilograms (2855 lb) the Porsche engineers were able to reduce the power-to-weight ratio of the coupé with standard manual gearbox to 3.9 kilograms (8.6 lb) per horsepower, with the PDK version weighing 4.0 kilograms (8.8 lb) per horsepower. The largest savings were achieved through the use of lightweight components and doing without convenience equipment. As for the 911 GT3/GT3 RS and Boxster Spyder, an optional lithium-ion lightweight construction battery is also available. In addition, the top model in the mid-engine coupé is equipped with the lightest 19 inch wheels the entire Porsche range can offer. The complete rim set weighs less than 40 kilograms.

The Cayman R’s purpose and purist character can be seen at first glance. The extended silhouette of the bodywork, which has been lowered by 20 millimetres (0.79 in) compared to the Cayman S, combined with the distinctive fixed rear spoiler, the high-quality silver-painted wheels and numerous sporting highlights on both the interior and exterior, ensures an individual appearance. The black-framed headlights, black exterior mirrors and the “PORSCHE” lettering on the side – in contrasting black or silver, depending on the body colour – take design cues from classic Porsche racing cars.

Precisely this lettering was the trademark of the first Porsche with the “R” designation, was created for racing sport use in a small series of 19 cars. The “R” was a prototype based on the standard coupé with a 210 horsepower Carrera 6 engine and, thanks to its many plastic components and extremely sparse equipment, weighed only 830 kilograms830 l

The performance SRT-tuned, fully hydraulic steering system also is improved with a new, heavy-duty pump and revised gearing to give drivers more direct feel and on-center response.
New, split five-spoke, 20-inch lightweight forged and polished aluminum wheels with black painted pockets provide great looks, and the available three- or four-season tires make the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 easy to handle and fun to drive.
World-class stopping power for the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 comes through four-piston Brembo calipers and vented/slotted rotors measuring 14.2 inches up front and 13.8 inches in the rear.
The Charger SRT8’s Ready Alert Braking system anticipates situations when the driver may initiate an emergency brake stop and engages the electronic stability control pump to set brake pads against rotors in order to decrease the time required for full brake application.
Exclusive new front and rear fascias, along with a new rear spoiler, distinguish the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 with a high performance look.
The front grille, grille surround and Dodge crosshair feature high-gloss black finishes and the SRT badge. A newly sculpted hood features a 6.4 L (liter) badge and black air exhauster for added engine cooling.
In the rear, the Charger’s new signature “racetrack” taillamp design with 164 illuminating LEDs receives new 4-inch round dual exhaust tips and an SRT8 decklid badge to boldly show the Street and Racing Technology
Unique side-sill cladding is painted to match the body color.
A newly designed underbody belly pan features integrated brake ducting to improve cooling and brake fade performance at all four corner
Building upon the all-new design from 2011, the interior environment of the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 combines more world-class accommodations with race-inspired technology and appointments.
An all-new, leather-wrapped, SRT-exclusive steering wheel features a unique rim section with a flattened bottom surface that showcases the SRT logo. The standard paddle shifters flank both sides of the new steering wheel behind the new contoured palm rests.

For the high-performance look, carbon-weave, fiber aluminum interior trim pieces are integrated into the new instrument panel and shifter bezel.

epresents a year of financial turmoil that spread like a cancer across the globe. Chrysler, not unlike many other organizations was not immune to the chaos and soon joined GM as both giants were ushered by our Congress into bankruptcy. With a change of leadership and forced intervention by the US Government, Chrysler reorganized and quickly moved out of bankruptcy. Those faithfully following the recently reintroduced Challenger saw rumors of introducing a 2009 convertible crushed and the masses watched intently for signs of Dodge pulling out of further production and ending what will likely be this generation’s last great pony car war. Instead, America and the rest of the world got a glimpse of better times and witnessed the resurrection of a Mopar icon!!

Special ordered from the Brampton factory by Chrysler of Cortland, N.Y,  Drop Top Revenge represents 1 of only 450, Deep Water Blue Pearl, 2009 Challengers built with a 6 speed manual Tremac  transmission. The basic design that comprised the early Project N96 concept actually occurred months before the order was placed.

Using scrap paper during hospital visits and later, the time associated with the many sleepless nights that followed a life threatening motorcycle accident; from the Shaker Hood and the custom graphics, to the Hurst Shifter the intent up to this point was to bring back the Classic look of a 1970 Dodge Challenger, with an eye for new and modern electronic technology.

As a S.E.M.A. attendee for numerous years, the research associated with building Project N96 brought forth a certain show stopping car that won the Chrysler Design Excellence award and had become the talk of the 2008 show.  It was a Snake Green Creation that the Chrysler Corporation commissioned to be built by a company called Coach Builders Limited (now called Drop Top Customs) A company who has the reputation of being the oldest convertible conversion company that specializes in OEM look, fit, and finish.

What happened to this award winning show machine? After S.E.M.A. this car was quietly scrapped by the Chrysler Corporation!

And so the final piece of the build fell in place…to cut a perfectly good roof from the car…and re-create the legendary look of the Dodge Challenger Convertible!  The factory order was changed….the car was re-routed to Gainesville Florida instead of to his hometown dealership in Cortland.  Having flown down to Gainesville to witness the first “cut”, here this build took its second and final turn!  Hidden in the corner of the shop, under cover and away from prying eyes…the wheels!   The wheels that were from the Original Drop Top Convertible of the 2008 S.E.M.A. show car.  They sat on a pallet.  You see, Chrysler did not own the wheels…so they were saved from the crus
It was decided then, between the owner and the builder, that this was to be more than a convertible, this would become a tribute to a car whose life ended just as it had begun to live.

Lamborghini V12 super sports car which will debut at the upcoming Geneva motorshow will feature an innovative and highly sophisticated suspension concept. The pushrod spring and damper concept was inspired by Formula 1 and tuned perfectly to meet the needs of a high-performance road-going vehicle. Together with aluminum double wishbone suspension and a carbon ceramic brake system, this lightweight chassis is another element of the unique technology concept in Lamborghini’s new flagship model.

An extremely precise, indeed razor-sharp, driving feel accurately describes the soul of the newest and most powerful super sports car ever to bear the sign of the bull. This includes a steering system that can think its way through a bend adhering to the perfect line, a suspension that masters the ideal balance between race-car feel for the road and plenty of comfort for ramping up the miles, and lateral stability that ensures absolute safety even at the very highest speeds.phenomenal engine output of 515 kW / 700 hp and its comparatively low vehicle weight, the new V12 super sports car from Lamborghini blasts its way to the very highest speeds. The most important characteristic of the new suspension is its design in line with the pushrod principle – inspired by Formula 1. The spring/damper elements are not located on the wheel mounts, but connected inboard to the bodyshell structure. They are transversely positioned: under the windscreen in the front and close to the engine in the rear. Pushrods and relay levers / rockers transmit the foshrod arrangement, wheel control and damper remain separate from each other. As a result, handling is more responsive and easier to manage at all speeds, while rigid connection to the chassis also improves the precise and spontaneous reaction of the springs and dampers. As a result, spring stiffness can be notched back a little – comfort increases, while precision remains. On the front axle, the shock absorbers are equipped with a hydraulic lifting system, which enables the front end of the super sports car to be lifted by 40 millimeters at the trces from the wheel mounts to the spring/damper elements.d carbon fiber are also the most important lightweight engineering materials on the chassis. The entire suspension system, including upper and lower control arms, wheel mounts and relay levers are made from forged aluminum alloy. The large-diameter discs on the high-performance brake system, on the other hand, are made from lightweight and extremely hard-wearing carbon ceramic composite material. On the front axle, the ventilated discs measure no less than 400 millimeters in diameter, with braking force delivered via six cylinder calipers. On the rear axle, 380 millimeter diameter discs are used in combination with four cyteering on the Lamborghini V12 forms the highly sensitive connection between the driver and the super sports car, which runs on 19-inch wheels clad on 255/35 tires at the front and 20-inch rims on 335/30 tires at the rear.
